We have a 2018 Honda CR-V EX with very low mileage. We purchased in April 2018 and in May 2022 with only 17,000 miles the a/c compressor failed. Due to the low mileage I called the Honda Customer Call Center to request a Courtesy Assistance for repairs since out of warranty. Apparently the new refrigerant and oil required by new regulations may cause swelling of the compressor shaft seal. Anyway the warranty has been extended to 10 years with no mileage limitation.Open recall simply means honda is currently fixing the issue and you can usually find out what that recall is (its probably the airbag recall so nothing mechanical). A recall is nothing to worry about, just bring it to the dealer and have them do the recall fix.
